ACG conference, general meeting kicks off in Tehran

TEHRAN, Dec. 06 (MNA) – The 20th general meeting and conference of Asia-Pacific Central Securities Depository Group (ACG) was opened Tuesday morning in the Tehran.

Managing Director of Central Securities Depository of Iran (CSDI) Mohammadreza Mohseni said the conference aimed to “develop cooperation and collaboration between member countries.”

“Other objectives of the event include provision of facilities and expansion of capital market, supply of necessary infrastructure for globalization of investment markets in addition to planning for future and scrutinizing existing barriers,” he continued.

The official underlined that 21 of the total 34 member countries of ACG are participating the 20th edition of the conference underway in the Iranian capital.

The official also noted that five specialized working groups will be formed on the sidelines of the conference with presence of representatives of international institutions active in capital markets; “furthermore, Iran will become a candidate for membership in the executive committee of the international organization.”

Two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) will also be inked between Central Securities Depository of Iran (CSDI) and two other countries.

Hosted by Central Securities Depository of Iran (CSDI), the 20th general meeting and conference f Asia-Pacific Central Securities Depository Group (ACG) is being held on December 5-9 in Espinas Palace Hotel of Tehran.

Iran which joined AGC in 2012, hosted the ACG conference in 2014 and this year the country is hosting the group’s general meeting for the first time.

ACG was founded in November 1997 as an informal international organization and has been holding annual meetings since then.

The organization has 34 members from various countries in the region including Iran, China, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Bangladesh, Hong Kong, Kazakhstan, Maldives, Mongolia, Singapore, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Uzbekistan.
